Investigations for private clients

Private Investigations

A relationship concern, conflicting information or an unanswered question can affect a significant decision. KEO helps private clients establish the facts through focused enquiries and clear reporting.

You can start with a short conversation.

Explain what has happened, what you already know and the question you need answered. You do not need a complete brief before making an enquiry.

Private investigation and discreet field enquiry

Relationship concerns

Establish what is happening before deciding what comes next.

Where movements, meetings or activity are in question, discreet enquiries can help establish the relevant facts. The assignment is directed at the specific concern rather than treating suspicion as a conclusion.

Surveillance is considered when observation would answer the question. Background research or other enquiries can be more appropriate in different circumstances.

Other personal matters

The enquiry depends on the information you need.

Background enquiries

Check relevant information about an individual before a personal or business commitment. Research can examine identity details, business interests, relevant history and inconsistencies in information supplied.

Locating people

Enquiries to locate a witness, debtor, beneficiary or another person connected to a lawful matter. The purpose of the request and the information available are assessed before an assignment is accepted.

Personal fraud and online deception

Examine suspected scams, investment fraud and other deception affecting a private client. Enquiries follow the people, companies, communications and transactions relevant to the matter. Explore fraud investigation services

Assets and ownership

Research into property, company interests and business holdings using lawfully available records and supplied documents, including enquiries relevant to a dispute or recovery matter.

Evidence for a dispute

Factual enquiries, witness location, document examination and observations relevant to a personal dispute. Where a solicitor is involved, objectives and reporting requirements can be discussed at the outset.

What you receive

A report that explains the enquiries and the findings.

The report sets out what was examined, how the information was obtained and what was established. Relevant supporting material is identified so the account can be followed.

Observations are distinguished from information supplied by others. If an enquiry cannot be completed or evidence is unavailable, that limitation is recorded.

Before you enquire

A few practical questions.

What should I provide first?

A brief background, the relevant names and dates, and the question you need answered. KEO will discuss which supporting records are useful for the proposed assignment.

How are the costs agreed?

Fees depend on the enquiries, location, duration and reporting required. The proposed scope and costs are discussed before you instruct KEO to proceed.

Can you coordinate with my solicitor?

Yes. With your authorisation, factual questions and reporting requirements can be discussed with your solicitor before work begins.

What if the person or matter is overseas?

Provide the country involved and the purpose of the enquiry. Available records, local requirements and any fieldwork needs are assessed when defining the assignment.

How should I send sensitive documents?

Contact KEO first to arrange an appropriate transfer method. Personal information handling is described in the Privacy Policy .
